Fishing Report June 13, 2016

Early summer conditions are present here.  Great weather, few people, and the waters are in great shape.  The Truckee is just coming into shape and has been kicking out some solid fish.  Not numbers but, healthy beasts.  The LT is fishing well and we have had some good flows to flush out the goo.  It’s time to get up to Truckee and fish!  Check out some of my programs for the summer season.

Hosted Montana Fly Fishing.  Still have two slots available on the Montana Trip Aug 14th-17th.  Hitting the Blackfoot and Bitterroot rivers.

Offering 301 class in conduction with Roseville Orvis on July 16th.  Well get you tuned up to tackle fly fishing on your own.

The Truckee Area Sampler two day tour will be June 23rd and 24th.  Act quickly as this has sold out every year!

Truckee River**-***  The flows have started coming down bit and the water is clear.  In town the flows are 181cfs and below Boca 636cfs.  Afternoon water temps have been up 50-55degrees.  The Truckee is starting to shape up nicely!  Indicator nymphing and stripping  streamers have been accounting for the fish.  Have not seen many surface feeding fish but, that should change as conditions are prefect.  All bugs are in play so the fish have a smorgasbord of choices.  Pick you favorite bug combo and fish it. If you are not hooking up adjust the depth or weight then move.

Little Truckee*** The flows on the LT have been dropped to 3o1cfs and the afternoon water temp was 45-48 degrees.  The recent water bump has given the LT a much needed flush and the water has cleared nicely.  There has been a decent PMD hatch and the fish were keying on them but, have wised up a bit.

Prosser, Boca, Stampede**-*** The reservoirs are continuing to fill and have been kicking out some nice fish.  They seem very spread out.  Inlets, drop-offs, and the dam areas are good places to target with an Indicator set-up or stripping streamers on a sinking line.  The Callibeatis are starting to show in small numbers and well and damsels.  In the afternoon look for fish taking ants in the wind lines.

Milton Reservoir**-*** The road is open and early reports were good followed by a slow down maybe do to flow change.  Will get out there soon.

North Yuba  Looks to be dropping into shape will get over there soon as well.  Dry fly paradise here.  Stimulators, Ants, and Parachute Adams size 8-12 will probably work if presented well.

See you on the water,

Brian
