Things up here are in the usual spring state. Sunny and windy in afternoons. The flows have picked up a bit and the water is still very clear and fishable. Temperature in the rivers is still on the cold side. Overall the fishing is fair you'll just have to move around a bit. I suggest skiing in the morning and fishing in the afternoon while its still available.
High Country Lakes And Streams*
Are at least a month out depending on where your going.
Local Lakes And Reservoirs **
Didn't fish there this week. However, people are still picking up a few fish on wooley buggers, streamers, and flashback PT's. The inlets have been the most consistent areas to fish.
Rivers and Streams*
I spent this week fishing on the Little Truckee, between Boca and Stampede, and the Truckee.
Temps are on the cool side, but have improved since opening day and should keeping getting better. I managed to land a fish on all but one outing. There is a nice hatch of BWO's and even some caddis on both rivers with minimal surface takes. Down and dirty is the key. The fish that I landed took stuff on the smaller side Bead Brassie 16-14, flashback PT 16-14, and Birdsnest 12. No luck yet on bigger stones or princes. All fish landed were in the 12" - 15" range and very thick!
See you on the river.
Brian
