Fly Fishing Reports - Archives

April 28, 2005
There is still a ton of snow in the upper elevations and appears more snow and rain for the next 10 days or so. The Truckee River is coming up and cold, a rain event could turn it off color and make opening day tough. Streamers and nymphing are the ticket here, you have a chance at a pretty good fish but not numbers yet. The Little Truckee between Boca and Stampede should be a good bet. Again Streamers and nymphing are going to be the best. Although, I did see some surface activity on midges at the inlet last week. Prosser, Boca, and Stampede should be a good choice especially around the inlet areas. Beware of the mud it is still pretty wet and I wouldn't venture too close with a vehicle unless you like being stuck. I'll update in two weeks once I fish around some and get a feel for what's working.

For those that want to travel, Pyramid Lake, Nevada has been picking up. Both striping woolley worms and nymphing have been producing. Olive, black, and white woollys and pretty much any color copper john was working on the last trip. The south and east side of the lake was producing for us. If your not catching fish move.

Good Luck! fishing on opening day and I'll see you on the river.

Brian
