Truckee Fly Fishing Report Archives
|
Monday, March 26, 2007
It was good to see everyone at the Fly Fishing Show in Pleasanton and I hope we can fish together this year. The new winter regulations for the Truckee and Little Truckee have gone into effect and we have been fishing. The spring like weather over the last couple of weeks has really helped the water temps from the opening week. So far, runoff is minimal, just like our winter. The spring skiing has been great! I suggest a couple of hours of skiing in the morning, followed by an afternoon of fishing when the skiing gets sloppy.
Truckee River ** The Truckee has picked up this last week with reports of multiple fish days. Although, I haven't seen it yet, there are reports of the fish working on the surface. Nymphing with big stones and princes has been the ticket. There are some BWO's and midges around as well. Fishing in the deeper slower water has been effective. Its still cold and the fish are not that active yet.
Little Truckee **-*** The LT has been fishing well both nymphing and with dries. The working fish are very eager to eat a dry. Nymphing has been a little more work. Smaller stoneflies, midges, and beatis in the 18-22 range have been successful. For the dries a Small Elk Hair Caddis or Parachute Adams,18-20, has been the ticket. Comparaduns and Griffiths Gnats, 18-20, have worked when the others are snubbed.
See you on the water, |
