Wow! What an incredible fall we've had here this year sunny, warm, and dry. All waters have been fishing great. The reservoirs have been kicking out good numbers of fish all fall. Stampede has been especially good and the fish seem to be bigger overall than those in Prosser or Boca. Although, I did hear of a few large smallmouths and browns landed in Prosser. The Truckee and Little Truckee have been good as well. The flows have been cut back on both rivers making the fish pretty venerable to flyfishing. I had several double digit days on the main Truckee with many fish in the 10-13 inche range and several FAT 15-16 inchers. So far this season, the super big fish have eluded me or got away. I have 10 days left to fix this. Despite the cool weather and snow last week the fishing has remained good. Try going during the warmer part of the day. On the reservoirs and rivers fishing small BWO's 20-22 and Midges 20-22 have worked well. Stripping a bugger around the deeper water is also a good bet. There is still some Kokanee in the Little Truckee and dead drifting a glo bug around them will pick up a few fish.
The fishing season is rapidly winding down he for me and the ski season is cranking up. Thanks to all of you who took a trip we me this season. I am looking forward to fishing with you again next year. I will post Pyamid Lake reports as the fishing there starts to pick up with the cooler weather.
Let it snow!
