Fly Fishing Reports - Archives

September 29, 2005
Just a quick note before I head off to guide steelies on the Rogue. There is still plenty of fishing left around here. Not many people out midweek and the fish are willing. The flows are up on the Truckee, for this time of year, compared to the last couple of seasons. Nymphing and Dry/dropper techniques have been producing. There has been a hatch of small caddis and BWO's mid to late afternoon. The Little Truckee between Boca and Stampede also has nice hatches going as well. This fish are fairly tough! Be sneaky, change flies, and try a different hole. There are some nice fish in this area. Also, should expect to see the Kokanee anytime and that will still things up a bit. Boca, Prosser, and Stampede are starting to fish better as the fish are moving in closer to shore. According to my scouts there is still a fair amount of callibeatis coming off and fish are on them. Stripping a streamer has been good as well.

I will be in Oregon until the 7th of October and won't be checking my e-mail. I am available during the middle of the month so don't hesitate to call and leave a message 530-550-9780 and I will get back in touch with you. If you looking for short notice stuff don't forget about the Truckee Guide Network. We have a new member, Doug Childers 530-412-2988, he is eager and ready to help out. Frank and John are also available some of the days during the time I'm gone.

See you on the water

Brian Slusser
