Fly Fishing Reports - Archives

June 13, 2006

16ft Lund LakerI recently purchased a 16 foot Lund Laker aluminum boat for better access to the local reservoirs. Set up for fly fishing, the boat has level floors and an elevated platform for casting from. There is ample room for two anglers. Half-day trip is $300 and the Full-day is $400.

High Country Lakes and Streams **
The access to Milton is now open through Jackson Meadows. Have not been there yet or heard a report. Probably another month before it melted out enough to get around everywhere.

Truckee River **
The Truckee was dropping and starting to fish better, however, the water master opened up the gates and flows this weekend below town were around 600 cfs. The temps have been cool. 48 degrees in the morning and warming to low 50's by afternoon. Nymphing and steamers are still your best bet.

Little Truckee River**-***
Flows on the LT are down to around 300 cfs and very fishable. The fish have been inconsistent with their eating the last week. Midges, small mayflies, small caddis, and San Juan's have worked with no one particular pattern being super effective.

Local Reservoirs***
Prosser and Stampede are fishing well. The levels in both reservoirs are up and the fish are spreading out in the shallows around inlets. Midges, mayflies, and streamers are all working. If you not hooking up, move until you do.

Yuba River *
One of my scouts fished the Downieville area this weekend and said it very high but managed to catch a couple of small fish along the edges. It still needs to come down a bunch.

See you on the water,

Brian
