Tahoe Fly Fishing Report Archives

November 15th, 2011

Some probably thought that I was never going to update but, here it is. Just returned from a long steelhead guide season on the Rogue River in Oregon and a side trip to the Deschutes and John Day rivers. A big "Thank you" to all of the people that came out and fished with me. It was an enjoyable steelhead season. I will post some pictures here and on Facebook.

For those looking to do some trout fishing in the Truckee Area the 15th is the last day of the regular season and we are on to winter fishing regulations. The Truckee River from Trout Creek to the border and the Little Truckee River are open for catch and release fishing while the reservoirs are still open with general regulations. The Truckee from Boca down looks to be a good bet and the flows in the LT are pretty nice as well. It has been cold at night and we even have some snow around with more on the way. Look to fish the heat of the day in the deeper slower runs. There have been a few hatches getting the fishes attention but, mostly, is it nymphing with smaller beatis and midge patterns or pulling some streamers thats going to get the grab.

See you on the river,

Brian
