Fishing Report June 16, 2015

The conditions here are changing fast!  Last week was awesome with the rain during the week.  A week of sun and warm temps have pushed the water temps up on all of the rivers and lakes.  Time to start thinking about fishing early and late in the day.  Consider the bass as an option as well.  Water levels are super low and getter lower each day.  Independence and Jackson Meadows reservoirs have good water levels at this time.

Starting on June 21st thru July 10th I will be rafting the Grand Canyon and not available to guide, answer the phone, or answer emails.  For those looking for guide service for late July. I do have someone taking messages and will get back to those when I return.

Truckee River**  The flows in town are 18 cfs, Boca 69 cfs, and Farad 112 cfs.  The water temps are 65 degrees mid-day.  Time to look at other options here as the water temps are just going to get too warm.

Little Truckee River** The flows are at 45 cfs and the water temp was high 50’s.  These guys are tough and have seen a lot of pressure over the last months.  They are catchable but you better have your “A” game.  Some stealth and good casts will help.  Midges, Mayflies, and caddis in smaller sizes 18-24 will help if presented right.

N. Yuba***  The flows here are at 128 cfs and the water temp below Sierracity was low 60’s mid-day.  Really gorgeous over there right now.  The water will definitely warm this week.  Great dry fly action throughout the day on  Caddis 14-16 and Ants 10-12.  Little Yellow Stones 16 also were quite popular with the little rainbows.

Milton Reservoir***  The fishing here has been pretty darn good.  Ants 10 and Calibeatis 14-16 seemed to be getting most of the fish.  Topwater action was excellent but, you will have to change bugs to keep up with what the fish are eating throughout the day.

See you on the water,
