Fishing Report May 22, 2014

Looks like we are in for more unsettled weather through next week.  Not to worry the fish have been digging the water and the weather.  Flows are a little lower than the last report due to the lower temps.  Even had about 4 inches of the white stuff in Truckee on Friday which has since melted off.  It is a great time to get out and fish.  Give me a call and I’ll set you up.

Still have room on the Montana Trip Aug 14th-17th.

Offering 301 classes in conduction with Roseville Orvis on June 11th and July 16th.

The Truckee Area Sampler two day tour will be June 23rd and 24th.  Act quickly as this has sold out every year!

Truckee River**-***  The flows have dropped a bit and the water is clear.  In town the flows are 223cfs and below Boca 776.  Afternoon water temps have been up and down 45-50 degrees depending on the cloud cover and overbite temps.  Fish are hanging in the deep slower runs.  Indicator nymphing and stripping  streamers are the best bet right now.  Fish methodically and change weight to stay in the zone.

Little Truckee **-*** The flows on the LT bumped up to 198cfs and the afternoon water temp was 42 yesterday.  The water has been really off color since the last bump up of water  and I imagine the bomb today will stir it up some more.  Should be clear in the next day or so.  There has been a decent PMD hatch in the afternoon and the fish are looking up for them where the water is clear enough.  Nymphing has been the most productive until the hatch starts then switching to dries has been good for a short time.

Prosser, Boca, Stampede**-*** The reservoirs are continuing to fill although inflow has slow a bit with the cooler weather.  Inlets, drop-offs, and the dam areas are good places to target with an Indicator set-up or stripping streamers on a sinking line.

Side Note:  The road to Jackson Meadows is still snowed in.  At this time there is no access.

See you on the water,
