It is transition time here in the Truckee Area. Truckee/Tahoe saw a little bit of snow yesterday and that has given way to some cooler weather in the North Tahoe area. Fishing on the Truckee has been pretty good despite the lower water again this fall. Have also heard of some nice fish being caught out at Prosser Reservoir.
As I normally do this time of the season I head up to the Klamath River to guide Steelhead for the month of October. I have a few prime dates left in the middle of the month. Give me a call to set up your trip. 530-386-0525

Truckee **-*** The flows in town are way down at 20cfs. From Boca down flows are 139cfs with afternoon water temps cooler around 55 degrees and dropping with the colder weather. The fishing has been really good at times and with the low water the Dry Dropper is still effective with fish readily eating both. The Browns are starting to stage to spawn and Streamers should also be effective. No need for a tip right now. Patterns that are big and loud should get bit. There are Midges 16-18, BWO’s 16-18, October Caddis 12-10 , and Caddis 14-16.
Little Truckee** The flow is 30cfs. It may stay at this level for quit some time. Should start to see some Browns and Kokanee moving into the river. If you see fish paired up leave them alone to do their stuff.
Prosser and Stampede Reservoirs **-*** This time of year is usually a good time to prospect the shores and inlets with Streamers or Indicator rigs with Midges. Some good sized fish are caught each year.
See you on the water,
