Here is the Truckee area fly fishing report the for June 20th, 2018. Great weather and Great conditions are the story here. All of the rivers and streams are fishing well with nice hatches occurring on the overcast days. The Reservoirs are also producing nice fish for the Fly Fisher.
Truckee River Fly Fishing Report
Truckee River has been fishing awesome. Almost all of the bugs are hatching along the river. Green Drakes, PMS’s, March Browns, Caddis, and Little Yellow Stones.
Truckee River Overall Conditions
The Truckee River flow are coming up and are currently 174cfs in Truckee and 361cfs at Boca and coming up this morning as I write this. Mid-day water temps are 64 degrees and have warmed pretty fast so hopefully this bump in flows will keep the temps a little lower. Nice hatches of the all bugs early and late in the day.
Truckee River tactics
All techniques have produced fish and Dry Flies and Dry/Dropper rigs have worked well given the lower flows. Nymphing with an indicator will work more consistently throughout the day. Streamers for early and late when the big boys come out to play.

Little Truckee River Fly Fishing Report
The Little Truckee River has been steady over the last couple weeks. Hatches of Midges and small Mayflies throughout the day. Look for Green Drakes here soon if they haven’t already started.
Little Truckee River Overall Conditions
The flow has been steady at 98cfs and the mid-day water temps are 48 degrees. There is an algae bloom going on right now so Deep Nymphing will not work so well.
Little Truckee River Tactics
It would be best to head hunt with a dry or Propect with a Dry/Droppers with the dropper rigged shallow. Swinging a soft hackle would also keep you out of the goo.

Stampede, Prosser, Boca Reservoir Fly Fishing Report
Out on the reservoirs the temps are still good and the fish are still up in the shallows. Good conditions for the Fly Fisher!
Reservoir Overall Conditions
Stampede has been great and and Boca at the inlet too. Look for the Water temps to start rising with this warm weather.
I go armed with three setups Dry Fly, Indicator rig, and Sinking line rig. Look, see what is happening and go with that. For example, if I see no fish rising then I will pull streamers or fish the indicator rig. Some days the fish prefer one over the other.
