Tenkara Fly Fishing is a Japanese style of fly fishing that has been introduced here in the US. Rod, line, and fly no reel. Tenkara focuses on the presentation of the fly and simplicity. Tenkara is ideally suited to some of our smaller streams in the Truckee/Tahoe area. I have had success on the Truckee and Little Truckee rivers as well. The Tenkara rods also adapt well to some European nymphing techniques. If you are a hiker, backpacker, or biker this is the set-up for you. Simple, compact, and light. For parties no larger than two. **Given the extra big winter that we have had in the Tahoe area, I will be working longer at Alpine Meadows than in past seasons. The snow is good and there will be some bigger runoff than normal. With that said, I will be working at Alpine through late May. While I have the dates blocked out on my calendar,` I will have some openings.
