The weather last week was very spring like. Now the weather this week is more winter like and more along the lines of what we should expect to see this time of year - a little rain, a little snow, and sun poking through. What a crazy weather year we have been having. Conditions for fly fishing are as good as they could be for this time of year on the Truckee River. The runoff is happening, and the water is up and on the colder side. I mean, it was just snowing 12 hours ago, and it's not wet wading season yet. There are Skwalas, March Browns, Blue Winged Olives, and Midges out and about. Top water action has been hit or miss, with nymphing as the steady performer lately, with some nice fish being caught....

Well folks groundhog day might be coming to an end. This could be the last weekend to get out and enjoy some easy access winter Fly Fishing here in the Truckee Area. Not much has changed over the last few weeks. The days are slowly getting longer which means a little more time on the water.
