Well, its groundhog day again. Super nice fly fishing conditions on the Truckee River, which will be the focus of this report. Winter with cold temps, rain, and snow has yet to show up here in the Truckee Tahoe Area. Mid-day conditions are really good with a little bit of everything working. No need to get out at the crack of dawn because the low lying areas around the river corridor are freezing overnight. It is best to let it warm up a bit, then go chase some fish. While nymphing will probably be the most productive, there are some brief hatches of BWO's and Midges happening with a few fish looking up. Streamers have picked up a few fish as well. Like I said in the last report, Low and Slow will get it done.
It's looking like a change in weather may be coming towards the middle of next week. While it is a bit early for accurate reporting, at least there is some potential change coming for this weather pattern.
Did I mention that I sell Gift Certificates? They make awesome gifts for the fly fisher. Half-day or Full-day trip options available.

Truckee River Conditions
Truckee River flows are currently 75 cubic feet a second out of Lake Tahoe, 90 cubic feet per second above town, and below Boca inflow the flows are 380 cubic feet per second. Flows could spike again with the next storm. Water temps are 40-44 degrees mid-day.
Truckee River Techniques
Truckee River Techniques moving into winter. Nymphing is going to be the most productive throughout the system. And there is still plenty of water for streamers to pick up a few as well. From TC through Truckee a dry/dropper rig would be a good choice in that section. From Boca down flows are lower than they have been and would be a good place to find a bigger fish lurking.
