Truckee Tahoe Fly Fishing Report July 1st, 2020

This report will focus on the Truckee River and Little Truckee Rivers. The #flyfishing has shaped up nicely so far this season. With some excellent #Dryfly fishing to be had. The water temperature has been up and down with the weather and will dictate when and where to fish for the next couple months. Tip: Get a thermometer and use it.

The rivers are super busy don't expect to have it to yourself. Be nice, greet the other anglers, and have a good time.

Truckee River Conditions

The flows on the Truckee River are 302cfs in Truckee and 690cfs at Boca. Mid-day temps have varied with the weather. The cool nights have brought the temps down to the low 60's mid-day. The water clarity is good. Most of the flow is coming for the top of Lake Tahoe until Boca so if it's too warm drop downstream below Boca inflow.

Truckee River Tactics

Tactics for the Truckee River are fish what you like right now. However, the topwater action is prime with Caddis and Little Yellows Stone coming off why not take advantage of the fish looking up. Dry/Dropper rig have been effective as well during the middle of the day. Nymphing with or without an indicator will be good mid-day as well. Having too much fun on top to bother with streamers
